Looks like the weather has got the better of this weekend’s football, just like it managed to stop the blogging this week..
Half of the weekend’s Premier League programme succumbed to the snow yesterday amid concerns that not enough effort was being made to keep some matches on.
Fulham, Sunderland and Burnley announced that todays games have been postponed, while Liverpool, due to play Spurs tomorrow made an early application to the Premier League to call the game off.
Hull’s game with Chelsea was finally called off last night after being doubt all day.
The Premier League said: “It is unfortunate that these matches have had to be called off, however the advice from the statutory authorities in light of continuing adverse weather conditions was to postpone”
(Translation – its cold, icy and very slippery!)
So far the Premier League games still on are:
Arsenal v Everton
Birmingham City v Manchester United
Manchester City v Bolton (Monday)
Wigan v Aston Villa
Of courseĀ if you are really cold, you should be wearing your teams hats scarves and gloves from www.footballbits.co.uk
As so often, the final word goes to Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger: “Nobody acepts any risk any more and everybody is guided by fear”, “If one person out of 60,000 has an accident, you feel guilty. That is why the games are postponed when there is no real need for it”
