Tottenham Crock Ledley King Is Slowly Falling To Bits

Tottenham defender Ledley King is to visit a specialist in Denmark to ascertain whether or not he will need to undergo surgery on the troublesome groin injury that has kept him out for the past six weeks.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said: “Ledley’s off to see a specialist in Copenhagen to get a decision on what needs doing next, as to whether he feels he can carry on strengthening and trying to get through without having surgery or whether he needs surgery.”

“The knee can’t improve; there’s nothing you can do with the knee. That’s how it’s going to be for the rest of his career.”

The strain, which has restricted King to just seven appearances this season, is thought to have developed as a result of the 30-year-old centre-back’s inability to train regularly (due to his rubbish knees), though it may also be due to having tendons and ligaments that are seemingly made from a compound of plasticine and warm chocolate.

Seriously, regardless of quality, how is this guy still a pro? Surely he’s worth more in scrap these days?

Tottenham Hotspur legend Bobby Smith has died

Bobby Smith played as a centre forward for Spurs as they won the Double in the 1960-61 season, scoring 33 goals in the First Division and FA Cup that year. Spurs have not won the title since.

He scored in the 2-0 win over Leicester in the FA Cup final that year as well as the 3-1 victory over Burnley in the following year’s final. He was also part of the European Cup Winners’ Cup success of 1963.

Smith died in hospital on Saturday evening following a short illness and a message on Spurs’ official website read: “It is with great regret that we announce the death of Bobby Smith, our legendary centre-forward from our great Double-winning side of 1960-61.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Bobby Smith at this very sad time.”

Theo Walcott netted a hat-trick for the Gunners as Blackpool were swept aside at the Emirates

Ian Holloway spoke pre-match about the need to ensure Blackpool’s dream afternoon did not turn into a nightmare in North London, but his players failed to heed the warning as they returned to the changing room at half time 3-0 down, and a man down. Ian Evatt saw red for the visitors and Walcott took full advantage to bag himself a hat-trick.

It was Walcott who opened the scoring when he completed a flowing Arsenal move on 12 minutes, and then Blackpool were dealt the piece of hard luck they could ill afford, with Evatt sent off for a professional foul on Marouane Chamakh. Evatt’s challenge appeared to come outside the box, but Andrei Arshavin cared little as he doubled his side’s lead from 12 yards.

Walcott then doubled his personal tally with the help of some poor goalkeeping, and there was more misery for Blackpool after the break as Abou Diaby expertly turned home Bacary Sagna’s cross, before Walcott completed his hat-trick with yet another cool finish after he meandered his way into the area.

With the match wrapped up, Arsene Wenger was able to give half-hour appearances to Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie, and Chamakh rounded off the perfect afternoon late on by opening his Emirates account after he had earlier missed an open goal.

Tottenham were also celebrating on Saturday as their depleted squad secured a 2-1 triumph at Stoke thanks to the brilliance of Gareth Bale.

Joe Hart Makes the Save of the Season. After 10 minutes.

August 14th, 2010

So, The Premier League kicked off again today, and started with a game between last years 4th placed Spurs and last years 5th placed, highly spending Manchester City. I predicted, yesterday after considering City’s new signings and Spurs having half an eye on the Champions League, a City win, but I got wrong.

Spurs were the dominating side, and should have won the game, and would have were it not for England No1, Joe Hart who took just ten minutes to prove that he’s the right choice ahead of an unhappy Shay Given, a superb reaction save that gets better with each viewing. And then he continued like that for the rest of the game to prove it over and over again. He made three or four quality saves before City even had a decent chance on goal (although, they had a great chance in the second half that Shaun Wright-Phillips

They think it’s all over…

So here we are, the last weekend of the Premier League and there’s only 2 things left to play for…
Well I say, only 2 things but they really are 2 BIG things!!

Firstly there’s the title itself:
Chelsea are at home to Wigan, knowing a win will secure the title, while Manchester United host Stoke, knowing that they have to win to have any chance of beating Chelsea to the silverware.

We reckon Chelsea will beat Wigan 3-0, while Manchester United will win 2-0 leaving the final table as it is now, Chelsea by one point from United.

Meanwhile Tottenham have a very slight chance of avoiding the Champions league qualifier if they can win at Burnley and Fulham turn over Arsenal. Dont think that will happen though, so it will end as it started will Arsenal in 3rd and Tottenham having to go through the qualification process.

We’ll know for sure tomorrow night !
